WHY AM I RUNNING FOR CONGRESS?
AND ASHLEY HINSON VOTED TO SEND
$95 BILLION TO OTHER COUNTRIES
“I have been a registered Republican my entire adult life, have voted for both parties, and I have been considering running for the US House for almost a year now. I have been increasingly discouraged and frustrated with Ashley Hinson’s voting record and her inability to be a true champion for change in Washington. Personally, I think Ashley is a very nice person and I have supported her in the past. But she has shown herself to be a follower, not a leader. I don’t think she is tough enough and I haven’t seen her step-up to challenge the status quo in Congress.
The final straw for me was when Ashley voted “Yes” to pass the $95 billion foreign aid package in April. She fell in line behind the establishment and failed to negotiate any legislation or funding to support our efforts at the border. It compelled me to act – our spending is out of control yet our communities have significant needs that aren’t being met here in the U.S. and in Iowa. We should be addressing those needs before any more of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars are given to other countries.
Assuming this country even had an extra $95 billion to spend (which we really don’t but let’s just play this out), just imagine what those dollars could have supported had they been invested in the U.S. Let’s do a simple math example:
Could you find ways to invest $475 million here in the 2nd District? I know I could find a hundred ways. Remember these are your tax dollars - and I don’t believe Ashley is spending them wisely.
“Five months from now will likely be the most critical election in our nation’s history. Candidly, our country is in a free-fall, and I don’t believe we have hit rock bottom yet. The current political establishment is more polarized than ever before—and it has become THE SINGLE MOST significant barrier to protecting this country, solving our problems, and setting our children and grandchildren up for success. Instead of waiting for the imminent crash, I feel compelled to act—to roll up my sleeves and accept the challenge of changing our nation’s course before it’s too late. If you have a dog in this fight like I do (in fact I have several—my children and grandchildren), then join me in demanding change. For the first time in my life, there is a real reason to fear the loss of the freedoms our founding fathers fought and died for. Instead of giving into that fear, it’s time to find the courage to change.”
